This textile wall art entitled ‘The Gathering’ was exhibited in the Irish Guild of Embroiderers group exhibition ‘Meetings’ in July-August 2018 in Dun Laoghaire Lexicon, Dublin, Ireland.
For this piece, I wanted to expose the texture of the natural worn cotton sheet, its raw edges and build textural effects using embroidery stitches and soft prints.
It is framed with a Moebe transparent frame (Danish design). The artwork is held between two acrylic glasses.
It can be hung the way you want, portrait or landscape, by using the black rubber band that holds the frame together.
As the frame is transparent, the wall colour and texture behind will show, which can make it interesting.
