Stepping Stones
Felted wool and thread
This project was made using leftovers wool pieces from other projects. The thick pebble-like pieces gave me the idea to use them in a wall piece. Each piece represents a distinct entity that connects to others to create a network and a relationship. In terms of common ground, this is what happens when people get together to create. The black lattice emphasizes the connection. The white lattice should remain invisible. With this piece I also wanted to convey a play on texture and colours.
Materials: merino wool – merino fleece – merino prefelt – cotton thread – nylon thread
Techniques: Wet felting technique – free motion machine embroidery for lattice – stitching
